Dear Applicant:

 

You have applied to Two-year Post-Graduate Programme in Management (2008-2010 batch) under OBC category at IIMA.  In this context, following the Supreme Court Judgement on OBC Reservation, and in pursuance of the e-mail Office Memorandum (http://www.iimahd.ernet.in/programmes/officememo20apr08.pdf) received by IIMA from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, if you belong to Non-Creamy OBC category, the institute would require an official certificate from the competent authority to this effect.  

 

To facilitate obtaining such a certificate, enclosed are proforma of the Application for obtaining Non-Creamy Layer OBC certificate and a proforma of the Certificate by the competent authority, patterned after the Annexures A and B of the Compendium of Instructions issued on reservation for OBCs in services/posts under Government of India, brought out by Department of Personnel and Training. The documents are available on IIMA website at the following URL:  http://www.iimahd.ernet.in/programmes/obcdocu20apr08.pdf. Also enclosed are the criteria for exclusion of Creamy Layer for OBC as given by National Commission for Backward Classes (http://ncbc.nic.in/html/creamylayer.html) and made applicable to reservation in Central Educational Institutions (CEIs) by the above mentioned Office Memorandum of MHRD, Government of India.

 

While you arrange to furnish the above mentioned certificate at the earliest, please let the institute know by return e-mail that you do belong to the Non-Creamy Layer of OBCs.

 

In addition, a copy of your Application for obtaining Non-Creamy Layer certificate should reach IIMA within a week, and a copy of your official Non-Creamy OBC certificate should reach IIMA within two weeks from the date of this letter.

 

In case the institute receives no response from you, it would be assumed that you do not qualify under the Non-Creamy OBC category.
