  • Was a full time Member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for a year and before that a part time member for three years.

  • Was the Chairman of the Risk Management Group of the Forward Markets Commission.

  • Was the Chairman of the Group set up by SEBI to review the Revised Carry Forward System of the SEBI Committee on Risk Containment Measures in the Derivatives Markets as well as of the SEBI Committee on Employee Stock Options, of the SEBI Advisory Committee on Derivatives and of the Group on Secondary Markets Risk Management.

  • Was the Chairman of the Expert Group on Transfer Pricing Guidelines set up by the Ministry of Finance and Company Affairs as well as of the Committee on Sweat Equity, Employee Stock Options and Preferential Allotment set up by the same ministry.

  • Is currently a director on the Board of Infosys BPO Limited (a subsidiary of Infosys Technologies Limited) as well as of Axis Bank Limited

  • Earlier he was a Director on the Board of the Punjab National Bank. Also worked for a year with a large financial services company as an Executive Director in charge of Investments and Research for their mutual fund.

Study of money and debt markets, equity markets, foreign exchange markets, derivative markets; pricing and valuation of various securities;
market microstructure; regulatory and policy issues.
Financial Sector
Financial sector reforms; functioning of banks, financial institutions and the financial services industry in general
International Finance
International financing and investment decisions and foreign exchange risk management.

  • Has carried out extensive research in the field of Indian financial markets and finance theory and published extensively in Indian and international journals. Has authored popular books on portfolio management and on the Indian securities scam. His book on the securities scam was a national best seller. Has nearly a hundred papers, articles and cases to his credit.
